Picture an hour #3.75 - Instagram.

My day: as viewed through Instagram.
1.) Sudoku
2.) Cup
3.) Still searching
4.) New nose ring
5.) Painted nails
6.) Pandora.
7.) PANDORA

1.) This morning I was so bored that I decided to do a sudoku puzzle that I found in the newspaper.
2.) I drank some grape juice while doing the puzzle. Somehow I lost 4 pounds.
3.) The newspaper is still suggesting places for us to live as we have not found a place yet.
4.) I went to town to get a new nose ring, pick up some cider vinegar, and create a checking account.
5.) Got home and painted my nails even though I never do; I'm not feeling like myself though. So its okay.
6.) I got a new bead from the pandora store owner's husband: a graduation cap; how cute.
7.) I finished my book, so I enjoyed some PANDORA (internet radio) before bed. #sleepingatlast

now its time for bed.
I feel like someone else.
hopefully a good long sleep
will drive this strange intruder out.
well, we can only hope I'll come around.

PANDORA♥.

Good morning my lovelies,
Yesterday was so great, and I feel as if that is partially because of my beautiful new beads. PANDORA really is the absolute best. So yesterday my Garret and I went to the store and bought a couple more to add to the bracelet and bead he got my for graduation. Here they are.

First of all, he got my the blue one. A brand new bead that just came out, to me it stands for a brand new start, a brand new life that is just starting for me.

I also got the teacup. Symbolizing a couple different things for me. First, the past, because I worked at a Starbucks, and now I have moved on from that. It also represents satisfaction and happiness for the future to me, because Starbucks is so satisfying and a drink of something delicious is happiness in a cup.

Yesterday I also purchased the airplane. To me the airplane represents the journey that is to come; everything that I want to do, and everywhere that I want to go. I can do whatever I want if I put my mind to it. The airplane represents being on the go, which is exactly what I will be with satisfaction and happiness in my new life.

& of course, a picture of all my beads. They make me so happy. Now I have the new Spring 2012 catalog and I have gone through and circled thousands of dollars worth of other beads that I will eventually have. ♥

open house 2012!

Happy Sunday everyone!
I hope your weekend was as splendid as mine was. I had a super busy day Friday getting ready for my graduation party/open house, and then Saturday I had a blast with some awesome people who came out to celebrate me graduating. Almost everyone that came had respect enough to say hi and congratulate me. I had a lot of great pictures taken before, during, and afterwards. Today I worked most of the day, but now that I'm home I'm planning to spend the rest of the night cleaning up my room, and then curling up with my new, hand-made quilt from my aunt Sandy, and some hot chocolate to enjoy a few hours worth of The Sims 3. I am also quite looking forward to the next two days as they are my first actual days off so far this summer. Tomorrow I'm going to spend the day at the beach with my boy. Check out the pictures from my party!

It rained yesterday, but I had already bought the dress for the party, so I wore tights and socks to stay warm!

The cake wasn't what my step mom had ordered, but it was still delicious.

This was my board, diploma, cap, picture books, scholarships, awards, cake, and card box table.

I had to get a picture with some of my best guy friends from the class of 2010. I have missed them so much!

My best friend and I. I love her to death.

A three generation photo with my daddy and grandma.

My proud parents.

A picture from the bonfire afterwards. It was way too much fun ;o)

busy busy busy.

Good evening my dear bloggers,
Today has been one of the busiest of days. Tomorrow is my graduation party/open house. So this morning I got up and had to go to town to make a trip to the bank, to State Farm to get my insurance on my own policy, to my hair salon to put highlights in my hair, and to the dollar tree and Walmart to buy the rest of my party decorations. After all that I got to McDonald's for a vanilla shake and went on my merry way home so that I could put together my center pieces. Everything is looking good so far. The only thing that isn't so fantastic is the fact that it is supposed to rain tomorrow. Oh well, we'll make the best of it one way or another. I'm excited for the even busier day ahead of me. More pictures up tomorrow! (o:

i'm a big girl now.

I am in denial. I have been for the past week. Which is my excuse for not posting since last Sunday. The last week of school had been creeping up slowly since the very beginning. I guess I never thought it would get here. It always seemed so far away, but now, its over, and we're moving on to bigger and better things. Graduation was Sunday, May 27, 2012. It was a beautiful ceremony. I am happy to say that I have graduated with the Pellston High School Class of 2012. I couldn't be any happier, or more proud of myself and everyone else in my class. Here are some pictures:

This is Carly (my best friend) and I walking in together. I'm gonna miss her so much.

Here I am standing and waiting for them to announce that we are represent the Class of 2012.

This is me receiving my diploma. Such a proud moment.

This is me directly after the ceremony. I was just finishing up crying. So my eyes are a little watery looking.

My dad, me, and my step mom afterwards.

Cap and gown finally comes off! (o:

So, now that I have your attention, I'd like to say a couple things and point out a few others. First of all, graduation was a blast. Like I said earlier, I couldn't be any happier. It feels so good to know that I am finally done with the high school years of my life. I am ecstatic about moving forward. This summer is going to be wonderful and it is going to be a perfect lead in to the awesome year that is to come.
That being said, I want to touch on what I am doing. Recently, just yesterday actually, I finished up my picture a day for a year album that I had going on Facebook. Now that it's done (and I don't plan on doing it for another year or for any other years to come ever again) I have decided that I would like to document the next stage of my life in some way, shape, or form. So, what I've decided to do is to continue to document my life in its future stages through the posts on my blog. If you were wondering why the name and design of my blog changed from paper planes & playground games to I'm a big girl now. it's because I am a big girl now, and I wanted to change things up to go along with all the major changes that have now taken place, or will shortly, because I am done with high school.
Today I am going to leave you all with a list of changes that I am extremely excited about.
---Working two jobs for the entire summer. 4 days a week at Hush Puppies shoe store, and on weekends at the Dixie as a hostess.
---Moving out of my parents house, and into an apartment with my boyfriend when the leaves on the trees start to change colors.
---Starting college at North Central Michigan College to work on my Associates of Science degree focusing on Biology/Pre-med so I can become a successful pediatrician
---Starting a new job in Petoskey when I move there. Hopefully working early mornings at Starbucks in the local Glens store in town.
---Driving the new car that my graduation and work money will buy me at the end of the summer. I'm looking for a Grand AM or a Monte Carlo. We'll see what I can find for under $4,000.
---All the first times that I will experience as a brand spankin' new adult who has graduated from high school!

I'm also very excited that you will all be following me on my journey in this small world. (o:

The future begins today...
in my dreams, my actions, and my heart.
It's time to dream big, live wisely, and be kind...
And to never forget how much I have to offer the world. ♥

we're almost done.

Good afternoon my lovelies. My apologies for not posting in nearly a week again. The school year is coming to a close, so I've been extremely busy. I'll be just as busy next week. But I have something planned for each of the last five days of my entire high school career. So don't worry, you will hear from me. I'm so happy this journey I've been on for the past 13 years of my life is ending and a new one is starting right after in it's place. I'm trying to enjoy the last few days of this life. It's beautiful outside. It's supposed to be just as nice tomorrow. God is surely looking down on us all today, hopefully he will reach down and touch those who may struggle to find the strength to enjoy their day tomorrow. ♥

If you're doubting you will enjoy tomorrow, please, enjoy today. If not for yourself, or for me, for your daddy. I love you ♥

Tattoos On This Town

Tattoos On This Town by Jason Aldean
This song goes out to the graduating class of 2012 at Pellston High School. This is OUR song.

There's still black marks on that county road, where we drag raced our pick-ups and mustangs
And weathered all the sun and rain
And to this day up on that overpass, even underneath the new paint, you can still see,
"Ali, will you marry me?"

Take a ride, look around
There ain't no doubt

It sure left it's mark on us, we sure left our mark on it
We let the world know we were here, with everything we did
We laid a lot of memories down, like tattoos on this town

There's still a rope burn on the old branch, that hangs over the river, I still got the scar
From swinging out a little too far
There ain't a corner of this hallow ground, that we ain't laughed or cried on, it's where we loved,
Lived and learned real life stuff
It's everything we're made of

It sure left it's mark on us, we sure left our mark on it
We let the world know we were here, with everything we did
We laid a lot of memories down, like tattoos on this town
Like tattoos on this town

Everywhere, it's where we are
It gets me right, in my heart

It sure left it's mark on us, we sure left our mark on it
We let the world know we were here, with everything we did
We laid a lot of memories down,
And we'll always be hangin' around, like tattoos on this town
Like tattoos on this town

There's nothing like...

...skipping school and laying in bed for a while, then getting up and drinking a nice glass of Grape Punch. Yum.
I am so sick of school at this point, and there are only 14.5 days until we are out for good, but I just don't know how I'm going to get through those days. I'm so busy, and there is just so much to do in one day. I have no idea how I'm going to get it all done. I spent the second half of Monday and Tuesday with my Garret, basically just venting to him and talking about all that I have to do and all that is on my mind. Then yesterday I left school early again and went to finish up my night class at the college. Today, I'm just kicking it at home and I'm gonna do a ton of homework and catch up on everything that I need to do.
Days like this I just have to take a step back and really appreciate the littlest of things. Without the little good things, there would be no point in continuing on. I look forward to life because of the little good things that come along with it. Thank you Grape Punch, for allowing me to thoroughly enjoy my morning.

dear journal.

School has really been dragging me down lately. Luckily it is now the weekend and I have a little time to sort out all of the things I went through over this past week. The happenings of Thursday really jump out to me when I think about the worst day this past week. Last Thursday was a very long day for me. It probably just seems twice as long because I decided not to go to school Wednesday, but either way, this is what happened:

So, I have been given the privilege to mentor girls in grades 6-8 every Thursday for the last 45 minutes of school. I've posted about it a little bit before I believe. In a video. Because I'm the 'leader' of the group, they make me pick a topic off the top of my head and everyone goes around the circle and tells a little bit about what they think about the topic.

I haven't gone for the past two or three Thursdays. I just haven't had the time. I work very hard in school. Harder than most people will probably ever understand. Right now, for the first time ever, I may not finish the year with straight A's. All of my free time has been going to Calculus as of late in order to try to boost my 88% to a 93%. At this point there are only a couple weeks left of school. So I've accepted that it isn't going to happen and that it really doesn't matter. I'm not valedictorian anyways. So what should I care...

Anyways, I decided that I would go this last Thursday, mostly because I feel bad that they don't have me to talk to because they are really able to connect with me in a way that they can't with adults, and also because I genuinely miss them and hearing about what is going on in their lives. So last Thursday I started out by asking them to tell me one of two things: what they thought their worst quality was or what their biggest failure was. The reason I picked this was because I had a scholarship interview the other day and they asked me some really hard questions, these two included. I had a really hard time answering them. However, after thinking for a while, I was able to come up with some answers. I told the girls that once you realize what your biggest weaknesses are, you have a better chance of over coming them. Once you can point out the things about you that should be changed, it is much easier to change them. As we went around the circle most girls passed. Which didn't surprise me: it was hard for me, why should it have been easy for them?

Failure to get any answers out of them from that question led me to my next: What is the worst thing anyone could do to you? What do people do that hurt you the most?

This was definitely the right question. By the time we got back around to me, I had heard so many different things. To hear 20 some girls sitting at that big table tell me about what their 'friends' have done to them just broke my heart. I heard things like "To be lied to, to be left out, to be told I'm worthless, to be told I'm ugly, to have my family picked apart, to be judged, and my absolute worst: to be looked at and told who I am by someone that doesn't even know me. It was definitely the worst part of my week. Probably because I remember how it was when I was their age. Every single thing that came out of their mouths has happened to me. Every.Single.Thing. After hearing all that, the one thing that I knew I had to tell them is that it doesn't get any better. At least not right away, because high school is even worse than middle school.

I felt terrible for the girls. To see the pain and the hurt in their faces as they each shared a little piece of their lives. Some were crying, some on the verge. It was very sad. I told them all that no matter what anyone says, they know who they are, and that they have to learn to love themselves because sometimes others may not. I warned them about backstabbing friends, and let them know that you really have to be careful who you trust, and told them not to put too much faith into anyone but themselves. I made sure that they understood that they are ALL beautiful, and that if anyone ever told them that they weren't to just walk away thinking 'huh, either they were just blind, or looking at somebody else' because I have never in my life seen an ugly person. I encouraged them to keep their heads up, and take my advice because I had to tell the truth: it only gets worse from here.

It's really sad that I had to tell them that. I wish everyone could learn to follow the golden rule; treat others as you would like to be treated. I wish that they didn't have the problems they did, and I wish that girls wouldn't tear each other down the way they do. I wish what I had to tell them wasn't the truth, but I know it is. Right now, up to this very day, I am dealing with all the hurtful things they told me about. It doesn't end. Girls will always make fun, they will always pick at you, make you feel less than you are, just to feel better themselves. The bottom line is that girls will always be girls: they will always be mean. In addition to that, if there is anything else I've learned through high school it's that you just have to keep your head up and be nice even to the meanest of girls with the finish line in mind, because once you're able to do that, you're already ten times a better person. I'm not going to lie, it is one of the hardest things you'll ever have to do. I still haven't mastered it.

The reason being a mentor for these girls is so hard for me is because when I talk to them, I see myself. I went through everything they have already gone through and everything they will go through. I just always remind them that they are beautiful, and so worth it, and that they don't have to let anyone walk all over them. I want to be there for them because no one was there for me during that time of my life. It definitely gets tough in school, but if you have someone to talk to it makes it a heck of a lot easier to keep your head up. They have a long way to go, for their journey has just begun. But I have faith in them; I made it through, didn't I? It's been a long road, but the finish line is just around the next bend now.

suspense building.

Well. Now that it is officially May and I've kept you all waiting a good long 7 days after telling you all that I have some amazing posts for this month, I have Your very first one! So here is a video describing a little bit about whats been going on during this past week.

What I said at the end of the video about people not taking it seriously basically means that it hasn't fully hit some people that we will be graduating in under a month. My class has a lot of maturing to do before they should choose to go off and be on their own. Most of them haven't fully realized all of the responsibilities that come with being an adult. I'm not sure I have even realized all of them yet. So, like I said, hopefully people will get their poop in a group and grow up a little. We're all going to have to sooner or later. Let's hope they realize sooner.

19 months.

Happy 19 months to my amazing man and myself.
(Here are a few pictures of us from Prom 2012)

Its been a long ride. But I've enjoyed all of it. No matter how hard it got at certain times, it has always been worth it. I'm so excited to spend the rest of my life with him. When we move in together at the end of this summer everything will fall into place. I'm excited for our future. I can't wait to get married and have children and make a career for myself to support my family. With Garret by my side I know that no matter where life takes us we will be happy and successful.

seniors 2012.

The class of 2012 at Pellston High School has definitely been the best class in quite some time. This last Tuesday night we did our senior prank and I must say, it was so much fun. I doubt I’ll ever forget it. We decided that it would be funny to camp out on the front lawn of the school overnight. In the morning we went out to breakfast. When we finished, some people decided not to come to school and the rest of us decided we better go.
We played hide and go seek and we had a dance competition. We also roasted marshmallows and hot dogs over a fire in a yard next to the school. We also wrote our names on the sidewalks and made big banners saying “seniors 2012” and put them over each door way. A couple of the boys decided to climb onto the roof of the school which was the scariest thing ever, but no one could get a picture of them because they were too high up and it was too dark for our cameras. A majority of us didn’t end up going to bed until about 2:00 in the morning, and we all had to get up at about 6 to eat breakfast. Some people stayed up the entire night. Because it was so cold that night, I got barely any sleep at all so I may as well have stayed up all night around the warm fire instead of in Carly’s cold van.
The van was probably warmer than any of the tents. And I know for a fact that it was warmer than no tent at all. Two of the guys in my class decided to sleep under the stars with only sleeping bags and blankets. When they woke up there was a layer of frost over them and their blankets! Even though it was cold the majority of us stuck through it and had a really good night.
In the morning during school everyone was talking about it. We were all exhausted and I had college later that day. I left school after lunch, got home and took an hour nap, took a quick shower, left for college, sat through a three hour lecture, drove home, wrote a quick blog post, and fell asleep in my bed within 5 minutes of my head hitting the pillow.

My favorite part of the night was right after we got done eating when we were all sitting and standing around the fire. We went around the circle and talked about where we wanted to go to college and what we saw ourselves doing in the next ten years. It was a good heart to heart talk; probably our last one ever as a class. It was nice to hear about everyone else’s goals, and to share my own. It feels like this entire year has flown by. I’m positive the last month and a half will go even faster. It’s crazy to think about, even though we’re so close to the end.
Next week we have pictures for the official graduation announcement. Prom is April 28th. Senior pictures for the class composite, senior slideshow and yearbook are due the first week of May. The awards ceremony for scholarships is a few weeks after that. The last day of school is May 25th. Graduation falls on Sunday, May 27th. We really are wrapping everything up.

I’m excited and scared of course. Who knows what the future brings.
Whatever it is, the class of 2012 is ready to take on the world.
