16. I am thankful for...

Today I've been very thankful for one thing in particular.

My boyfriend.
I am so thankful for all the things my boyfriend does for me. Tonight night I was having a really bad night. I have had a lot on my mind lately, and I was feeling pretty lonely. I called him up and asked if he'd come see me because I was feeling really down. He showed up with chicken nuggets from McDonald's with my favorite sweet and sour sauce, and he even brought me Gingerbread Oreos and milk. He was able to cheer me up a lot. It feels so good to know that someone is there for you, that someone will come right over no matter what is going on in their life at the current time. To know that I have someone in my life who is completely willing to drop whatever they are doing at the moment and come hug me and hold me for a couple hours just to see me feeling better than I was when they arrived, as they leave...that says so much. I am so thankful for my Garret. We have been through so much, but the fact that we are still in each other's lives means a lot. I read this quote once: "The couples that are meant to be are the ones who go through everything that is designed to tear them apart and come out even stronger than they were before. They don't give up on each other or their relationship when they go through hard times, even if its the easy thing to do." That pretty much sums up our relationship. I gotta say, I love the guy. A lot.

13. I am thankful for...

Today I am thankful for many things:

Optimism and the little things.
I am so thankful for days like today; days where I am inspired by something simply beautiful that allows me to look at the positive side of things, and makes me feel optimistic, even if only for a very brief second. It is more often than not that I feel weighted down by the heavy burdens that every day life brings. Sometimes I feel like there is just too much for me to do, and not enough time to do it. I get up in the morning and look at all the things I have to accomplish and I usually sigh, thinking to myself, 'there is no way I can get this all done; there is just no way it is going to happen.' I got up this morning, and this was my exact thought. But you know what? When my first class of the day got over with, I walked from the ADCL building to the residence hall, and during that time I reflected on my life a little bit. I looked up at the sky, and thought, 'if the sun can shine through all these clouds, and still brighten the Earth enough for all of us here, waiting, to see the things around us, then I can surely shine through all the negativity I'm feeling today and get through all the things I have to do with a smile on my face.' When you take the time out of your day to appreciate things that you usually look over, because you are so focused with your busy life, it can usually make a huge impact on your day. The little things are so important. The sun, the sky, the clouds, fresh snow on the ground, the smell of clean, fresh air, warm hot chocolate and a slice of banana bread slathered with creamy butter for breakfast, a nice sharp pencil, a great class discussion, a long relaxing walk from one building to the next, a nap before work, smiling faces in and out of the store all night, and a warm drive home with Taylor Swift's voice ringing in my ears. Today has been a great day, and I am so happy that the sun, sky, and clouds could help me see it that way. ♥

12. I am thankful for...

Today I want to talk about how thankful I am for my ability to write and appreciate Poetry.
In honor of my awesome poetry writing skills, today I will be featuring one of my favorite poems. Enjoy! (o:
You can also see more of my poems on my Facebook page, under my notes.

A Year Has Gone
A poem by me. Written 1/23/11

Twelve months have come,
A year has gone.
It's been three hundred sixty five days,
Fifty two weeks too long.

Four seasons have passed,
Roughly 60 days in each one
And all this time that's gone by,
I've been thinking about what I've done.

Pulled you in,
Then pushed you away,
Gave me your heart,
And I threw it away.

January, February,
March, April, May.
I'd been counting,
Counting down the days.

Memories stopping me,
Every chance they'd get.
Reminding me daily,
Of everything since we'd met.

There are too many things,
Too many I couldn't forget.
You know something's wrong,
When you're holding onto things that make you upset.

I felt nothing in January,
That was the start.
Tried not to think of you,
Tried to be smart.

But that didn't matter,
February throbbed my heart.
My 16th birthday,
One in which you'd have no part.

March came along,
It marked month three.
And just a few years back,
This was the month you met me.

And soon it was April,
I'll try to explain.
Baseball season,
This was your game.

And not only that,
But a new striking pain,
I lost something I always wanted you to have,
April brought much rain.

But no flowers in May,
At least not for me.
Don't think I forgot the sixth.
The day you turned eighteen.

Then there was graduation,
Which I did actually see.
I regret not paying attention,
To the whole class of 2010 being set free.

And June takes me back,
To when 'Leavin'" was on top.
When I'd lay on my mom's balcony,
And we'd talk all night, nonstop.

Before I knew it July had come,
Soon the temperature would start to drop.
You announced you'd be attending pellston,
We made plans to meet in Mackinaw at my shop.

August I spent thinking,
Thinking too much.
I hadn't seen you all summer,
8 months since January when we lost touch.

When school started in September,
That's when I started to lose it all.
Memories were killing me,
Every time I went down the senior hall.

I had dreams in October,
Dreams all of you.
One every night,
Each time they were new.

November was the worst,
I remember when we started dating.
But I'd cry myself to sleep,
Because our memories were fading.

A cold walk on the beach with you,
I wish I'd never see anything more.
Because December was drawing near,
And soon I'd end up starting a war.

Finally December,
The end of twenty-ten.
You'd think I'd have forgotten you,
After all, eleven months it had been.

But all I could do,
Was thing back in time.
As Taylor Swift has it,
I could only "wish I realized what I had when you were mine."

I missed you like crazy,
I started asking around.
I wanted to know,
Was I the only one counting down?

Finally January 19th,
A whole year had gone.
Three hundred sixty five days.
Fifty two weeks too long.

I sent the message,
One day later got one back.
Found out some things never change,
And that's where we're at.

instabomb.

Hello my lovelies,
Today all I have for you is a nice big instabomb. Just a little overview of the past few days here at NCMC.

My boyfriend came to see me one last time on Monday before leaving for St. Louis, Missouri for a week. He brought me a Pumpkin Cheesecake muffin and a hot chocolate from Big Apple Bagels. Then he walked me to class, gave me a big hug, and kissed me goodbye.
I'll see him again this Saturday.
College life has its ups and downs for sure.
One thing you can always count on to get you through the day is coffee or hot chocolate; both are necessities for surviving the busy college life.
Another thing going on right now is the whole stupid debate.
Mitt Romney this,
Barack Obama that.
I can't wait for the election to be over with.
Been going to the bank a lot.
Been eating their suckers every time.
Been eating a lot of bad stuff every day.
It's got to stop.
Trying my best to stay positive.
College is tiring.
Seriously, take a look at my face.
Tired, tired, tired.

I made a few goals last night:
-Be positive
-Tone down the sass
-Less potty mouth
-Eat less, and better
-Spend less money

BAM.
It's gonna happen.
I'll be writing again soon.
xoxoxo.

candles & wine.

Hello my lovelies.
I have a feeling you'll like this post a lot. I had an amazing time on this night and I am so excited to share it with all of you. As you all know, my boyfriend travels a lot for his job. A couple nights ago he told me he'd be coming home for the night just to see me. He drove roughly two hours and arrived to the college at about 8:40 pm. He made reservations at a restaurant in downtown Petoskey called Chandlers, which was a total surprise to me.

Earlier in that day my best friend, Sandi, and I went shopping for a new outfit. We wanted to find something fancy that I could wear out.

We found a classy little black dress,
with lace and buttons all up the back
and a belt in the front to dress it up.
I was so very excited for the outing.
I wanted him to look at me all night.

The lace was a really nice touch.
The open back showed my skin.

He told me all night how great I looked.
I felt really good and I finally got to relax.

I'm so thankful for Sandi.
I don't think I could have
picked out a better dress.

Our dinner was more than amazing.
I didn't expect it to go as well as it did.
Everything was so perfect, it all felt so right.
We ate in a wine cellar and it was really romantic.

Candles.
Dinner.
Wine.
Him.
Me.
Us.
♥

& i can't even describe how wonderful it all was.
maybe that's what love feels like.
so indescribably wonderful.
surely i can get used to it.

tahquamenon falls.

Hello my lovelies,
I think you should all know about some exciting news. I'm not going to hide it anymore!

I'm in a new relationship!

Seriously, I couldn't be happier. Branden and I have known each other since eighth grade and on September 15th, eight days after Garret and I broke up for the last time, we started talking again. That night he took me out to dinner and since then we've been on four dates. Our last date was to Tahquamenon Falls. We went on October 5th and have been together since then.

The falls were beautiful. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. (o:

I'm so glad I was able to share this experience with such a special person. Everything about that day was perfect. We couldn't have gone at a more perfect time of the year. ♥

Someday in the Future.

Someday in the Future
a poem written by me.
10/1/12
Summer had come and gone,
Before I could look to see where it was going.
Pieces left behind were part of a bigger picture,
But I had no way of knowing.

What was to come?
What was in store?
I knew it was time to move forward;
Time to choose a new door.

But we never really know,
What the future is holding.
Sometimes we aim to predict it,
Based on how the past has been unfolding.

The past has never looked darker,
But to get better it has to be bad first.
There’s comfort in knowing that.
And three weeks ago things were at their worst.

A week after it all happened,
Your message came through.
It was unexpected as always,
Completely out of the blue.

I quit what I was doing,
And pulled my phone out to take a peek.
I was expecting a pitiful message from him,
After all, it had only been one week.

But when I looked down,
My heart rate burst through the roof.
I was so happy:
To tell the honest-to-God truth.

You wanted to know if I’d like to hang out.
And I didn’t know what to say.
The timing was oddly convenient,
I didn’t have time to think all day.

I wanted to really think it over.
Just like you know I always do.
But I didn’t have sufficient time to decide.
What I should say to you.

I reviewed each of my choices quickly,
However I remained as stagnant as ever.
But time was ticking.
It was now or never.

Spontaneity won me over,
I promised myself I wouldn’t go through it again.
After that night I couldn’t help feeling like,
This time would be different from back then.

It wasn’t until I got out of my car,
that I realized how bad my hands were shaking.
And it wasn’t until after our dinner.
That I was excited for the plans we were making.

That night I made a decision,
I decided I was done turning away.
It was September 15th.
I made up my mind that day.

And you had no idea.
You probably still don’t.
I’m sure you probably think this is temporary-
That I’ll stop talking, but I won’t.

I keep imagining you in my life,
There’s nothing I want more.
I’m truly sorry,
I didn’t realize it before.

All this time we tried to keep each other out
But kept finding our way back in.
There’s nothing we can do.
It’s time to give in.

Just four days later,
We were seeing each other again.
That night we made further plans,
I could hardly wait until then.

Friday September twenty first,
You took me to the Perry Hotel.
I had such a nice time that night.
You really made my heart swell.

You picked me up,
You drove us there,
And I loved every second of it.
It’s true, I swear.

You opened my door,
You helped me out and held my hand.
And you gave me a piggy back ride,
When I couldn’t stand.

You paid for yet another dinner,
And a movie that night too.
And you don’t know how nice that is…
But I do.

You dropped me off that night,
And we said goodbye.
I thought of the upcoming 17 days without you.
And let out an internal sigh.

Seconds after our hug,
The clock read 10:42.
I glanced up with a big smile,
And you grinned too.

The next thing I knew,
You were driving away.
Something wasn’t right.
It felt weird to end this way.

Not even five minutes later,
A message came through.
“Can I come back and see you for a minute?”
Of course I wanted you to.

I stood in the light of a street lamp,
I could barely contain myself when you pulled in.
I lost track of time when you took my hands,
I don’t know how long it’d been.

But you came with an explanation,
About why you’d come back so suddenly.
17 days was too long to think about,
How you didn’t, but should have kissed me.

You finished your sentence and pulled me in,
And for a very brief few seconds our lips met.
And everything about that short time,
I still have yet to forget.

Feeling fuzzy all over,
I walked back inside.
I couldn’t stop smiling.
Not even if I tried.

But then once I realized,
That three weeks must go by,
I wasn’t sure I could not see you.
But I decided I would try.

It’s been 11 days so far,
And I’m doing okay.
Hearing your voice every night,
Is what I look forward to during the day.

And every single night,
Just as we end the conversation.
I want to whisper, ‘I love you.’
But something causes my hesitation.

But this Friday I hope,
We can see each other once more.
An adventure to Tahquamenon Falls:
Date number four.

And It’s hard to say,
It’s hard to be sure.
If by that time,
You could be more.

More than some guy,
More than a friend.
More than what you were,
Way back when.

But we never really know,
What the future is holding.
I’m trying to predict it,
Based on how our time together has been unfolding.

If I know one thing for sure,
It’s that time will continue to go.
And what’s in the picture we’re painting,
Someday in the future we’ll know.

motorcycle ride with dad.

Hello my lovelies,
Today was quite an eventful day. I got up around 9:30 this morning and headed out to the front deck to enjoy a little sunshine with my cereal. Then at around 11:00 my dad and I were off on a motorcycle ride that ended up being 275 miles round trip. There really is nothing like sitting on the back of a bike and just looking out at everything the world has to offer. Big flocks of small birds scattering at the sound of the bike zooming past, the smell of fresh cut grass, feeling the wind against your face and in your hair, the sound of the great outdoors singing in your ears; it's all so wonderful. Those of us who live here, in Bliss, we take these things for granted, very much so.

By the time we finished,
we had gone through Cheboygan, Halks, Alpena, Gaylord, Indian river,
and finally returned back to Bliss.

We stopped at a couple parks along the way,
just to stretch our legs and to use the bathroom.
Everything out here in the country is so beautiful.

I'm very happy that I was raised in a small town.
You'll never know this kind of peace if you weren't.

My apologies for the cruddy quality of these pictures.
I only brought my iPhone along. It can only do so much.

We stopped at Ponderosa in Gaylord for some dinner.
It was delicious as always.
And after that we were on our merry way...
in the pouring rain.
Fortunately Gaylord is only an hour away if you're going very fast.

We made it home and all is well. I couldn't have asked for a much better day. I'm very pleased with the way things turned out today. This is my last weekend here at home for a while.
Now if you'll excuse me, I've got a mini fridge to clean out. (o:

Have a happy Sunday!

it's [finally] over.

Hi there everyone.
Today was my last day of work at the Dixie Saloon and it was a good day. Compared to what I thought it was going to be, anyways.

Let me just say this: it has been a loooong journey since my first day there.
So much has happened since then.

I'm happy to say that it is finally over though. It was pretty busy since it was a Saturday night, and also due to the corvette show, in part. When it's busy the time goes by much quicker though, so I didn't mind. At the end of the night, just as I was about to clock out, I was held down and sprayed with an entire can of whipped cream. It was a great way to end my last day working with some really awesome people.

The front view of my sticky self. (o:

And my back which was covered.
Now, if only you could have seen the floor, haha.

So, now I'm looking forward to a few different things this coming week.
Sunday (tomorrow): Motorcycle ride with my daddy to somewhere special.
Monday: Hanging out at home until tutoring the girls from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Tuesday: Shopping with my little brother for the last of my college supplies and for his school supplies.
Wednesday: Reading Fifty Shades Freed (the third, and final book of the trilogy) then tutoring at 4:00.
Thursday: Spending the entire day with my boyfriend at good old Sturgeon Bay.
Friday: Packing the rest of my belongings and clothes.
Saturday: Moving into the dorms, and starting a brand new life. Dinner with grandma at 5:00 also.

So, it's safe to say I've got a rather productive week ahead of me. I'm very excited!
Have a good night!

There's nothing like...

...waking up after 11:00 and laying in bed for a couple hours on the internet just chillin' out eating black cherry ice cream and chocolate chip cookies. Nothing is wrong, I'm just enjoying some goodies. It really feels nice to just be able to relax and not worry about anything else that may be going on at the time. I need more days like this.

"it's a shame about the weather...

Hello my lovelies.
I know it's been about five days since I last posted. I've been very sick the past two weeks and between work and trying to kick two infections, I'm exhausted. But I have a few pictures for you that cover what I've done over the course of the last few days. Enjoy! (o:

After Garret and my break up I've begun to see everything differently.
This was my very interesting horoscope I had the other day.
It fits my thoughts and the situation I'm in perfectly.
I don't put much faith in horoscopes though.
Just thought it was humorous.

The past five days have been full of work work work.
It's basically all I ever do. But that's very okay.
I need money anyways so bring it on.
It does get stressful, however,
some people are very kind.
like the girl who left this.

I've also been doing a lot of this lately. Just chillin' out with my little dog in bed.
Because I've been so sick lately I have to use any free time I have to rest.
Being awake all night and vomiting makes for a great reason to sleep in.
Little Cody dog doesn't mind me sleeping in. He enjoys it too.
We both need our beauty sleep ;o)

I've also had a lot of college stuff going on. A friend of mine convinced me of something.
So, now I have put in my housing application for the dorms at the college.
So instead of living at home, I'll be paying a little extra to be close.
Close to class, and people, and friends, and town, and work.
And everything else. I'm very excited.
This is everything I'll have to take.
BEFORE the nursing program.
I know, right? Yikes..

And this is me today, feeling 100% better than yesterday, but not 100% well just yet.
Canoe trip starting today, and we're about to head four hours away shortly here.
BUT, before I go. Here's a nice list I stole from my cousin over at Ivory Giraffes. (o:

Before I go, I want to share with you that I am currently,
Loving work on a Thursday night because I get to listen to Cedar Straits lead singer, Will Springsteen, who I love to drool over. Someday he'll be mine. ;o)
Reading Fifty Shades Darker, the second of the Fifty Shades trilogy, and it is so so so so good and I'll probably finish it on our way down state today and start the last book.
Watching the days go by. Summer is nearly over and it doesn't even feel like it has barely started! I can't believe it. Yes, take a quick glance at the calendar...Your mind has officially been blown.
Thinking About when I should get a hold of the business office at the college so I can pay my housing fee. Also thinking about the awesome weekend I'm about to have. And which flavor of ice cream I'd be if I could because facebook just asked me.
Anticipating living in the dorms with some of my best friends because it is going to be a fricken blast. I'm gonna have to pack up all my stuff really soon. Oh joy, all over again.
Listening to Colder Weather by Zac Brown band. Only because Cedar Straits sang it so well last night.
Working on compiling a list of all the things I need to buy and pack for my dorm! I am so excited. Only 25 more days!! ((o:
Wishing I knew if I could let Captain Ahab catch his White Wale.

...but I know soon we'll be together, and I can't wait till then..."

strawberry wine.

Good morning everyone.
I bought another Pandora bead yesterday.
It holds soooo much meaning.

The Strawberry.
To me, the Strawberry symbolizes a lot:
summer, sweetness, innocence, and even

new, true love.

Which is exactly what I am searching for.

It's a constant search though,
isn't it?

it's official...

Hello everyone,
I have big big big news for you.

*inhale deeply*

Garret and I, we're over.

*exhale slowly*

Yes, it's true. I know, I know, its crazy, and its very hard to wrap your head around.
Oh trust me. I know it is.
But it's the truth. And we all have to find a way to accept it.
No matter how much it hurts us.

Now, that being said, I have a few more truths to add before I close this post.
1. It was my choice.
2. I have cried every night since then.
3. I miss him terribly.
4. I worry more about him than myself.
5. I did it for the better.
6. My life is not over; but has just begun.
7. I'm afraid I'll be alone forever.
8. Right now I'm sick to my stomach sad.
9. But I have hope for the future.
10. & I'll be okay, eventually.

So, if you'll allow me to finish my ice cream now, I'm going to have to have quite a few more servings before this pain goes away. To be honest, all the ice cream in the world might not even be able to fix my heart. But that doesn't mean I can't try. And If it doesn't work, well, I'll go back to him, I suppose.

It sucks. And the more I think about it the more sad I get. But I'm happy it happened too.
Because now I have a chance to be my own person.
I can finally break free, and reach out, and explore a little.
I will finally be able to figure out who I am, and who I want to be.
And I will finally be given the opportunity to become that person.
On my own.

Even though I'm really sad this had to happen, I know I had no more chances to give.
It was just time. I can accept that some things can't be fixed.
I'm hopeful for my future.
I know I have so much potential and I don't plan on wasting any of it.
I don't have to settle for anything.
And I'm not going to.

Just one more big girl lesson I've learned.
Many more to come, I'm sure.

as of late...

Good afternoon lovelies,
I'm probably in one of the crappiest moods ever today. Not even just today, I can't lie anymore, I have to be honest with someone about how I'm currently feeling. I hate growing up. End of story.
I can't even blog regularly like I was able to during the school year, because I work too much now.
And when I'm not at work, I'm at 'home' dealing with a bunch of bs.
And 'home' isn't even home.
Which is why I'm moving back.
There. I said it.
Decision made.

I had to go to the college to get some things for my financial aid straightened out.
And afterwards, I went to Big Apple Bagels for a Cinnamon Crumb Cake muffin and some hot chocolate.

I was hoping it would make me feel better.
But as I sat there,
sipping my hot chocolate,
picking at my muffin,
and feeling
sorry
for myself,
I realized something.
I don't have to do anything
that I don't want to.
And I'm not going to. So I'm coming home.

I don't care what any one says about me. Sometimes you have to do what's best for you. And I think it is.

So I went to work, and I had a crappy night.
But when I got home,
I took a long hot shower.
I had a nice cold drink,
And I went to bed.

And when I woke up, I got ready.
And I thought about all the things that I can change.
And now,
I'm changing them.
One at a time.
Because I dont have to do anything I don't want to.
And because this life is about me.
Not anyone
else.

hit the bay with the boy.

Hello my lovelies.
A few days ago I was able to get my schedule changed around a bit so that I could squeeze in one morning with my Garret. We decided that it was a perfect day to go to the beach yesterday. So that's where we were headed. When we got there, we found out that we were right. The sun was shining, the sand was hot, and the water was amazing. I had an awesome time just laying out with my man talking, giggling, people watching, tanning, and swimming. Enjoy the pictures. (o:

All smiles when I'm with this man.
The one who cares for me like he's my brother
the one who protects me from the world like a father
the one who always stands at my side like a best friend
the one who holds my hand and kisses my forehead like a lover.
& yes, you guessed it: he's mine. Garret and Miranda; forever & always.
